Party Invitations

With the holidays approaching, many of you will want to throw a fun party. Perhaps you'll be having a holiday, birthday, or special occasion party. Whatever the reason your guests will need to know three important things:

  • Location of the party
  • Time of the party
  • What kind of party it is, and how they should dress

If you are having a small party for friends you can call them on the telephone, or email to invite them. If it is a special occasion, or holiday party, and you are asking many guests, invitations should be sent. Your invitations should have spaces for you to write in what your guests need to know such as: the time, day, and location of the party.

    Making Invitations:
Invitations you make yourself are fun, especially when you get your friends to help. You can use colorful construction paper to create many different designs, and shapes. Here are some ideas for your invitations.

    Valentine's Day:
Use pink and red construction paper, and cut out hearts.

    Halloween:
Use black, orange, yellow, or brown construction paper. You can cut out pumpkins, ghost, and witch hats.

    Thanksgiving:
Use brown, tan, orange, and yellow construction paper. You can cut out turkeys.

Christmas: Use white, red, green, or blue construction paper. You can cut out snowmen, bells, Christmas trees, or Santa.

Be sure to say if the guests should wear costumes, or certain outfits, such as a skating party, or Hawaiian cookout.

    What does RSVP mean?
Sometimes you get invitations that have the letters "RSVP," or the words "Please reply," written in the bottom corner. This means that you should call, or write the person who sent the invitation, and tell them whether you can, or cannot attend their party. Even if these words are not on the invitation it is considered polite to let your host, or hostess know if you can come.

If you plan to make your invitations be sure you arrange your party ahead of time. That way you will have your invitations made, and ready to be sent out.
