In The Beginning

Genesis, the first book of the Bible recounts the beginning of everything—everything except God. The Book of Genesis does not tell us where God came from but he is simply there in the beginning of planet Earth.

Have you ever thought about where God came from and wondered how he became the "Supreme" being of the universe? You'll never know the answer to that question while you remain a citizen of planet Earth. However, many people believe that the answer will be made clear to them upon their death. Since God gave us a choice to either do good or evil, he also gave us a choice to believe in him or not.

For me the answer is basic arithmetic. I do believe he is the Supreme being—and yes I would like to know how he came into existence. But, I simply don't worry about it.I’m quite sure one day I will have my answer. As long as he is there, is all that I'm concerned with.

The book of Genesis divides into two main sections.

Chapters 1-11 - Gives us the story of creation, the fall of Adam and Eve, and the developing of human wickedness.

Chapters 12-50 - Gives us the stories of the Patriarchs beginning with Abraham, then Isaac, and ending with the story of Jacob.

God creates a world in six days:
Day One - light.
Day Two - Firmament.
Day Three - Dry land, and plants.
Day Four - Sun, moon, and stars.
Day Five - Sea creatures.
Day Six – Humans, and land animals.

"And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep."
-Genesis 1:2

Can you imagine the whole earth covered by nothing but water? No land anywhere, only a water world. Can you ever believe that a dinosaur might have walked in your own back yard, or that ancient civilizations may have once hunted for food on your land? With the Bible as a reference guide many historians, archaeologists, and others have discovered what it was like to live in Ancient Bible days.
