Career Tips
by Kriss Colville

Tip #1 – school records: remember—when you graduate and start looking for a job, your school records will be reviewed. Employers now check your school records for grades, conduct, etc. Also your credit will be checked. So please, have a good, clean record.

Tip #2 – finish school: finish high school, and consider continuing your education. Research career information, and develop computer skills. If you didn’t finish high school, get your GED.
Tip #3 – computer career: if you want a career with computers, start learning while in grade school. Most classes now have computers in the classroom. Enroll in computer courses. Make sure you take a typing class also. It’s important to learn how to type and write letters, and other documents properly.
Tip #4 – Nursing: have you ever thought of being a nurse? If you become a nurse you will always be able to find a job. The U.S. is in great need of nurses, and other health care workers. You can find out about being a nurse by contacting your local guidance councilor at school. Also, contact your nearest nursing school, and they will be happy to send you some information.
Tip #5 – secretary: If you want to be a secretary, or have another type of office job start now for your future employment. You can be the best in your class in all of your business courses, including your typing class. Learn all you can with each passing year, and when you graduate, you’ll have a great head start. Join business clubs, volunteer for office work in your local community. This is a great way to get experience.
Tip #6 – teacher: do you want to be a teacher? If so, you’ll have a wonderful career sharing your knowledge with children and teens. Start now by studying hard, and making good grades. If you’re a teen, you will want to start thinking about what college you would like to attend. Talk to your teachers, and guidance councilor because they will have lots of information for you.
