Club Tips
by Kriss Colville

Tip #1 – computer club: – if your school offers a computer club, be sure to join. If not, talk to your teacher about starting one. If you only have one computer at home, ask mom to put it in a room the whole family can enjoy, such as the den. Learn how to build a simple webpage. Many host offer free websites. You can write articles, short stories, etc. Share with your friends.
Tip #2 – girl scouts: the Girl Scouts, or Brownies are wonderful organizations to join. Find out from your school guidance councilor how to get in touch with the local leader. You can visit websites, and even order your uniforms online without leaving the comfort of your home. Encourage your friends to join the Girl Scouts with you. Your teacher will most likely have all the information you need to get started in the scouts.
Tip #3 – Fashion Club: does your school have a fashion club? Usually most schools have them for high school, but if you are in middle grade school, and don’t have one, suggest one to your teachers. You and your friends could start a small club for middle grade students.
Tip #4 – 4-H Club: – if you like animals, and your school offers a 4-H Club, by all means join. You will learn about horses, cattle, sheep, and many other animals. You’ll visit farms, and take field trips. You’ll have picnics, and attend meetings. You’ll have lots of grown ups to teach you, and show you many different things about farm life. Contact your school guidance councilor for more information.
Tip #5 – home economics: the home economics club is very important for a girl to join. You will learn how to cook, sew, clean house, and much more. Fun.
Tip #6 – other clubs: if you want to join clubs, other than school, don’t forget your community, and your church, or place of worship. There are other clubs you can join in your community. You can find by checking with your local Chamber of Commerce, or by asking your guidance councilor at school. Tip #7 – other school clubs: other clubs at your school might include Art Club, French Club, German Club, Latin Club, School Newspaper, Yearbook, etc.
